Om Sirkka-Liisa Marjatta Uusimäki

I am employed as an Associate Professor here at Department of Education and Special Needs Education or IPS and I have been here since 2013. I completed my PhD in Australia titled Pre-service teacher education and the development of middle school teacher identity: An exploratory study in 2010. I was awarded the title as Excellent Teacher in 2018 by the Faculty of Education. This prestigious award is an reflection of my commitment to teaching and learning. I teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in English and in Swedish. My teaching areas include, Pedagogical and Educational Leadership, international subjects such as The School System in a Comparative Perspective and Contemporary Adult Education. My background as a Teacher Educator and Researcher has provided me with wonderful opportunities to combine my research skills with that of teaching. This rich and rewarding experience has given me and is continuously giving me insights to not only who I am as a lecturer/teacher/researcher and learner but also best ways to support and engage students in their learning.

The focus of my research interest include, internationalisation, cross-cultural studies, mentoring, identity, educational psychology, and pedagogical and educational leadership.
