[8 Nov 2018] Adult education has long been considered a second chance for people to gain education and decent employment opportunities. However, the nature of adult education has changed since the turn of the century. Today, it is mainly centred around specialised skills-oriented courses aimed to help people return to the labour market after an unemployment spell or health problems, or to facilitate integration of refugees.
[7 Aug 2018] The University of Gothenburg hosted the ETEN (European Teacher Education Network) annual conference in April. The theme of the conference was ¿building bridges¿, and the event attracted 200 teacher educators from 22 countries. The theme related to a situation where many of the member nations have received large numbers of recently arrived refugee schoolchildren.
[13 Mar 2018] Demands and expectations are increasing the opportunities to monitor the quality and effectiveness at different levels of the school systems. This applies both nationally and internationally. On 12¿13 October, an international conference at the University of Gothenburg gathered prominent researchers for example to create an international forum with an aim to promote the research field and establish additional networks.
