About Ilse Hakvoort

Research interests
The research field of my studies is Conflict resolution in pre-schools and school. I am interesting in the type of conflicts that are just emerging and have not yet escalated to the point where they must be reported to the Swedish Schools Inspectorate or Equality Ombudsman; that is the conflicts that can be managed by negotiation and mediation. Because emerging conflicts go unreported, they are rarely explored and studied by researchers. They are often invisible outside of the contexts in which they occur. Moreover, it is not clear how teachers and schools handle emerging conflicts in ways that either support or undermine learning. One of my key questions has been how can emerging conflicts be utilized by teachers to promote learning.

Teaching interests
My teachings is characterized by my interest in conflicts and conflict management in schools. I am involved in courses, course modules, public lectures and workshops related to conflict resolution at school.

In my work there is a particular interest for internationalization, including teaching international classes (for example in the courses Children's Rights and Realities and Conflicts and Conflict Resolution in preschools and schools).

For several years I have been working as International coordinator at the Faculty of Education (which includes working hours at ISOP)
