About Kajsa Hansen Yang

Research interests
My research interests lie in the field of international comparisons of educational systems, so-called comparative education. One of the issues I address is why there are great differences between school outcomes in certain countries while these differences are minor in other countries. Students’ social backgrounds also play differing roles in regard to study outcome in different countries. To answer such questions I have made use of the huge databases from studies like the IEA Reading Literacy Study, PIRLS, and TIMSS. These huge databases require special analytic approaches, such as multilevel analysis and latent variable modelling. The development of methodology in this area has also come to be another of my primary interests.

Teaching interests
I prefer to teach in the field of sociology of education, especially the interplay between social and educational inequalities in an international perspective. Methods of measurement in education and basic statistics are also areas that I am involved in.
