About Linda Borger

I am employed as a doctoral student at the Department of Education and Special Education. My primary research interests concern (language) education and language testing and assessment, in particular issues of rater variability in performance testing.

In my licentiate thesis (Borger, 2014) I studied rater behaviour and rater orientations across two groups of raters evaluating oral proficiency in a paired speaking test, part of a mandatory Swedish national test of English. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used to analyse scores and raters’ justifications of these scores in the form of written comments. At present, I am conducting continued studies on the testing of oral proficiency within my position as a doctoral student.

My main supervisor is Professor Gudrun Erickson and co-supervisor is Professor Monica Rosén. At the Department of Education and Special Education I am part of the research environment Learning and Assessment of Languages (LBS).
